Ophthalmic Technician / Assistant – Eye Clinic (New Haven, CT)
An outpatient practice in the New Haven, CT area is hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Technician / Assistant to support its eye clinic providers.
About the Role
You’ll assist physicians by independently performing preliminary screenings and diagnostic testing for patient eye evaluations. Responsibilities include visual acuity, visual field, ocular motility, color vision, pupil and tonometry testing, refraction, and ophthalmic photography, along with positioning and prepping patients, reviewing charts, recording and reporting results, setting up and maintaining equipment, scheduling appointments and procedures, and entering patient information in the EHR.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
- Full-time, fully onsite (this is not a remote or hybrid role)

- $29-$34/hour, based on experience

What We’re Looking For
- IJCAHPO/JCAHPO certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant or higher (uncertified candidates may be hired with 9 months to obtain certification, employer-covered)
- Prior ophthalmology experience required
- Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic testing and specialized equipment
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
