Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
Location: Southampton, NY
Schedule: Full-Time (Part-Time Considered) | Monday-Friday | 8:00/8:30 AM – 4:00/4:30 PM
Compensation: $23-$25/hour (Negotiable based on experience)
We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join a busy dermatology practice offering a blend of medical dermatology (50%) and cosmetic dermatology (50%). This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced providers in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Full-time is preferred, though exceptional candidates seeking a 3-4 day per week schedule will also be considered. There are no regular weekends, although occasional weekend coverage may be requested for special events (typically 1-2 weekends per year).
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care while working within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including rooming patients, obtaining histories, collecting specimens, and assisting with patient flow.
- Assist physicians with medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures.
- Prepare examination rooms and instruments using proper sterilization and infection control protocols.
- Educate patients on post-procedure care for treatments including:
- Botox and dermal fillers
- Laser procedures
- Skin biopsies and excisions
- Chemical peels
- Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen)
- Light therapy
- Skin tag removals
- Other dermatologic procedures
- Sterilize instruments and maintain stocked, organized exam rooms.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, OSHA, and Department of Health standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMA).
- Assist with specimen handling, laboratory compliance, and inventory management.
- Photograph patients for clinical documentation as needed.
- Transcribe physician notes when necessary.
- Educate patients on cosmetic services and skincare products.
- Perform phlebotomy if qualified (not required).
- Assist with onboarding and training new Medical Assistants.
- Support providers and teammates with additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required.
- At least 1 year of medical office experience preferred (2+ years strongly preferred).
- Dermatology experience is highly preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills and excellent bedside manner.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Computer proficiency and experience with electronic medical records preferred.
- Positive, professional attitude with a team-first mentality.
