- Position: Cook
- Location: Boston, MA
- Schedule: 40 hours/week; days and hours vary based on operational needs. 11am-7:30pm, 5 shifts
- Pay: $21.40 depending on experience and skills.
- Work setting: 100% on-site; the position is considered essential during weather emergencies.
Main responsibilities
The cook is responsible for preparing and producing meals, including:
- Preparing breakfasts, lunches, and dinners
- Portioning and packaging food
- Preparing meals for shipment to different locations
- Setting up and serving meals
- Helping with catered events
- Working with food-service staff, students, and volunteers
- Helping plan food production
- Potentially directing kitchen associates, students, and drivers when a manager isn’t present.
Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1-2 years of food-service experience, such as institutional cooking, catering, kitchen, or food-service operations
- Experience shipping meals in different quantities and varieties
- Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility, attention to safety, initiative, and teamwork
