Account Executive – Insurance Brokerage

Location: Hartford County, CT
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Hybrid
Compensation: $70,000

About the Company

Our client is a leading wholesale insurance brokerage specializing in the placement of management and professional liability insurance. The organization works closely with retail insurance brokers, agents, carriers, and clients to place and manage complex insurance risks.

The team operates in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and offers strong opportunities for individuals who want to build a long-term career in insurance brokerage.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Account Executive to join a growing brokerage team and work closely with experienced brokers.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the insurance industry and develop into an inside broker and, ultimately, a client-facing broker.

The Account Executive will function as a “broker-in-training,” supporting the team across a variety of client, account, administrative, and brokerage responsibilities. This unique role combines relationship management, sales support, account management, and analytical/administrative responsibilities.

This is not a traditional producer role and does not currently carry sales quotas or commissions. Instead, the focus is on learning the business, developing strong client and carrier relationships, and building the technical knowledge necessary to advance within the brokerage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support brokers throughout the full account lifecycle, including new business, renewals, and day-to-day client service.
  • Prepare and organize new business and renewal submissions.
  • Assist with market submissions, quote cover letters, proposals, presentations, and other client materials.
  • Review policies, endorsements, invoices, and carrier documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with renewal strategy and account preparation to support client retention.
  • Maintain accurate account information and documentation within internal systems.
  • Assist with reports, account analysis, and portfolio-related information.
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve billing and invoicing issues.
  • Assist with notices of cancellation and other account-related matters.
  • Participate in client meetings and develop the skills necessary to become client-facing.
  • Build professional relationships with retail agents, underwriters, carriers, clients, and internal partners.
  • Stay informed on market conditions, coverage trends, and developments within the insurance industry.
  • Take on a variety of projects and responsibilities as needed while learning the brokerage business.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is driven, sharp, professional, curious, and eager to build a career in insurance brokerage.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a genuine interest in pursuing a long-term insurance broker career.
  • Demonstrates a history of high achievement, performance, or personal accomplishment.
  • Is confident stepping into new situations and working with different types of people.
  • Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Presents themselves as polished, professional, and confident when interacting with clients, retailers, underwriters, and colleagues.
  • Is highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Can manage multiple accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Enjoys a combination of administrative, analytical, relationship-building, and sales-related responsibilities.
  • Is comfortable learning a complex industry and willing to put in the time required to become proficient.
  • Is interested in growing beyond an administrative role and taking on increasing responsibility.
