Position Summary:  The Controller provides timely, accurate, complete, and actionable Financial Control, Reporting, and Analysis; Organizational development and effectiveness support to the CFO in support of Business Unit requirements and objectives.  In conjunction with the Business Unit Management Team and the Senior Management, define and measure key performance characteristics of The business unit, providing data and recommendations that support the development and implementation of continuous improvement, operational excellence and organizational effectiveness programs supporting a sustainable and profitable business. 

Essential Job Duties:
Key Responsibilities:
Financial & Operational Oversight:

  • Manage and direct cost accounting processes in a manufacturing environment, including cost standard development, variance analysis, and margin performance.
  • Lead precious metal inventory processing and reconciliation, ensuring precise tracking and strong internal controls.
  • Review and support precious metal refining operations with financial insight and oversight.
  • Analyze manufacturing performance and provide actionable insights into operations and executive leadership.

Accounting Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Supervise the Accounts Payable, Metals Analyst, and Accounts Receivable teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing, vendor/customer communications, and adherence to company policy.
  • Oversee general accounting, supporting monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP.
  • Drive accountability, productivity, and continuous improvement across the finance team.
  • Develop staff through training, mentoring, and performance management.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare and review internal financial reports, dashboards, and KPIs for leadership.
  • Leverage data analysis tools (Power BI, Excel, etc.) to uncover trends, identify risks, and support decision-making.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and strategic planning processes.

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • BS/BA in Accounting or related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing accounting staff, especially with an outlook towards training, development and retention.
  • Deep understanding of cost accounting and inventory processes, preferably involving precious metals or other high-value commodity materials.
  • Proficient in ERP systems (SAP, Sage, 4D, or similar) and data analysis tools like Power BI and advanced Excel.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Experience with system integrations and process improvements a plus.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions including successful integration strategies.
  • 5 years experience in managing people.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to travel
  • Excellent communicator who can exercise a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, poise, tact, and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.

  • Fully integrated ERP system;  SAP, 4D, Sage,  other tier one systems.
  • Proficient user of data mining and analysis software;  PowerBI, MS Excel, other related software.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive Financial Management expertise with significant exposure to Manufacturing operations – BS in a business oriented program.
  • Well developed knowledge and understanding of cost accounting concepts, types of manufacturing operations, and multiple revenue streams.
  • Experience with multi-site operations, Precious Metal operations, and/or European HQ based business experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to effect change (continuous improvement) throughout organization.
  • Requisite ERP software systems and analytical skills expertise (Excel, Database Mgt, etc) with SAP or SAPB1 experience a plus
