RESPONSIBILITES
Assists estimator in analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for various projects by performing the following duties.
- Assists in reviewing data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists of equipment, fixtures and subcontractors.
- Uses Quickpen for onscreen takeoff.
- Assist in conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions as required.
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the cost estimates.
- Meets and communicates with project team on how the estimate was devised and provides assistance in transforming the estimate into a project control budget.
- Assist in organizing and managing a cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
- Assist in analyzing completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Helps identify cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
- Attends job site walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic CAD and Plumbing and/or HVAC industry knowledge is a plus.
- Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word. required
- Quick Pen Estimating Software a plus
- Valid Driver’s license
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to learn all aspects of estimating.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications to the level required for the position applied
