Practice Assistant – Orthopedic and Dermatology

Type: temp, covering LOA and temp to potential hire

Schedule: 
Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM, overtime offered
Monday through Friday, 8-hr shift between 7:15am – 5:45pm

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as Practice Assistant
  • Experience using Epic EMR system required
  • Bilingual Spanish is highly preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor fax system to review/disseminate incoming faxes, every 1-2 hours per day
  • Review and upload signed consents, FMLA, workers comp forms, radiology reports, lab reports, etc. into patient charts
  • Ensure iPads are sanitized and ready to hand out to patients
  • Upload OR notes into patient charts
  • Send Surgi-Care patient notes to support billing process for durable medical equipment
  • Answer desk phone and disseminate calls
  • Check in patients
  • Collect copayments and ABNs completed
  • Check out patients and schedule follow up appointments
  • Schedule MRIs, CTs, and specialized radiology tests
  • Schedule injections for Pain Providers
  • Receive medical record releases and send to Health Information Systems
  • Replenish supplies in waiting room area
  • Place calls to IT for equipment that needs repairs
  • Obtain and distribute mail, send out mail
  • Make reminder calls to patients
  • Process referrals
