Payroll Specialist
Position Summary
Detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with experience processing high-volume, multi-site, and multi-state payroll operations. Proven ability to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, maintain compliance with federal and state payroll tax regulations, and support employees across multiple locations. Proficient in PeopleSoft and experienced in payroll audits, reconciliations, and payroll tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume payroll for employees across multiple locations and states in accordance with company policies and payroll schedules.
- Utilize PeopleSoft to maintain employee payroll records, process payroll transactions, and generate payroll reports.
- Review and audit payroll data including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, and benefit elections.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Prepare, reconcile, and assist with the filing of payroll tax reports and payments.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax issues, and employee inquiries in a timely manner.
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Support W-2 processing and year-end payroll activities.
- Partner with Human Resources, Accounting, and management to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with payroll audits and provide documentation requested by internal and external auditors.
Qualifications
- Experience processing high-volume payroll in a multi-site, multi-state environment.
- Strong working knowledge of PeopleSoft Payroll.
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements.
- Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and compliance activities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
