Registered Nurse (RN) – Outpatient Neurosurgery Clinic
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, Days (35 hours/week)
Salary: $90,000-$115,000
A leading outpatient neurosurgery practice is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN looking to transition from a high-acuity inpatient setting into an outpatient specialty practice while remaining clinically engaged.
This is not an operating room or procedural nursing position. The role is primarily clinic-based and focuses on patient care coordination, triage, education, and clinical support. While some direct patient interaction is involved, the position leans heavily toward administrative and care management responsibilities rather than hands-on bedside nursing.
The RN will support multiple neurosurgical subspecialties, providing exposure to areas such as spine, neuro-oncology, and general neurosurgery.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate care for patients throughout the continuum of treatment
- Perform telephone, patient portal, and in-person nursing triage
- Review and manage EMR documentation, provider communications, and test results
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, follow-up care, and medication management
- Complete prior authorizations and assist with prescription renewals
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and postoperative care
- Collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team
- Assist with urgent patient concerns and clinical decision support
- Float between outpatient neurosurgery specialty clinics as needed
- Precept and mentor clinical staff when appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Current New York State Registered Nurse license
- BLS certification
- Prior relevant experience as an RN such as ICU, Critical Care, Neurosurgery, Neuro ICU, Trauma, Step-Down, or another high-acuity clinical environment preferred
- Strong assessment, communication, and care coordination skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient specialty practice and managing multiple priorities
This position is ideal for experienced RNs who enjoy coordinating complex patient care, collaborating with physicians, and utilizing their clinical judgment in an outpatient environment while maintaining a healthy weekday schedule.
