Hours:
Monday: 8am-6pm
Tuesday: 8a-6pm
Wednesday: 9:30a-6p
Thursday: 8a-6pm
Friday: 8a-5p
Responsibilities:
- Documenting all requests for tests in laboratory work logs and problems associated with the processing and billing are provided
- Records, files and distributes laboratory reports (on site and referred) after they have been reviewed
- Tracks laboratory reports when needed
- Takes telephone calls and reports and refers them appropriately
- Collects data for laboratory statistics, reports and special studies or projects
- Maintains stock of clerical/secretarial supplies, phlebotomy needs and inventory of reagents
- Draws blood on patients at a high-volume level to multiple demographics and age ranges – must be comfortable on peds
- Monitors specimen collection and identification procedures for accuracy and appropriateness
- Instructs patients on proper specimen collection techniques (e.g. CVS, FBS, O&Ps, 24 hour urine collection)
- Obtains blood specimen by venipuncture, fingerstick or heel sticks on pediatric and adult patients
Requirements:
- Active phlebotomy certification or diploma
- High school diploma or GED
- Pediatric and adolescent blood draw experience
- BLS/CPR certification
- 1-2 years previous phleb and/or clinical laboratory experience
- Experience with EMR software preferred, Epic a plus
- Bilingual (English & Spanish) strongly preferred but not required
