The Controller is a fully remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee general ledger maintenance and accounting operations across multiple subsidiaries.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and consolidated management reports.
- Maintain strong AP/AR processes; ensure AR aging stays at 93%+ under 60 days.
- Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Oversee treasury function including daily monitoring of cash and cash forecasting.
- Lead accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Manage commission processing for commissionable agents.
- Oversee 6+ senior accountants and an accounting manager working on various bands and provide financial oversight, guidance, and review of their work whilst developing their skill sets to support their future growth.
- Lead the annual financial statement audit along with insurance audits as needed.
- Prepare monthly operating reviews (MOR) for various brands.
- Create the monthly financial reporting package (FRP) and enhance the reporting allowing for automation.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Performance
- Assist the senior accountants with budgeting, forecasting, and platform-wide financial planning.
- Analyze KPIs, margin drivers, job costing, backlog, cash flow, and operational performance.
- Translate financial performance into clear, actionable insights for non-financial leaders.
- Support the creation of dashboards, reporting packages, and analytical tools.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; 2+ years in a supervisory/management role required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Construction industry experience a must
- Experience with multi-entity environments is a must
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and job costing.
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks is a must and Advanced Excel.
