Industrial Electrician
Pay: $23 – $25/hour+ depending on experience
Schedule: 7am – 7pm or 7pm to 7am
Location: Brentwood, NY
A growing paper manufacturing company in Brentwood is seeking an Industrial Electrician to join their production team!
Primary responsibilities include:
- Observing all OSHA and company safety rules and using the proper safety equipment at all times. Notifying
- Supervisor of potentially dangerous electrical hazards and taking immediate corrective action. Demonstrating basic.
- National Electrical Code understanding.
- Maintain electrical systems for all converting and auxiliary equipment. Troubleshooting machine breakdowns and malfunctions utilizing working knowledge of programs and tools required to troubleshoot PLC’s, DCS’s, HMI’s and servo systems including electrical schematics, meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Training and assisting technicians to troubleshoot, repair, replace and calibrate all electrical sensing devices (photoelectric, inductive, capacitive, magnetic, pressure, temperature, weight and position sensors), all electrical control devices (AC drives, DC drives, Servo Controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids power supplies and indicator lights) and all DCS/PLC/HMI hardware (processors, discrete and analog I/O cards, power supplies, network adapters, distributed I/O, operator interfaces such as PanelView, PC based interfaces), and message displays such as RSview.
- Participate in machine down days and machine trials. Based on extensive experience of the machine processes and controls systems, making critical decisions to proactively avoid downtime, quality, scrap, and safety problems.
- Making complex program modifications in PLC’s logic, HMI’s programs and servo controller logic to improve equipment performance. Working also with Controls Engineers to implement changes on DCS system. Both of these may also require significant changes to the control equipment and wiring on the machines.
- Complete assigned work orders. Enter work orders and data into the computerized maintenance systems. Share data and information to other team members.
Basic Qualifications Include:
- Must be self-directed, highly motivated, safety conscious and team oriented.
- Must have excellent communications and analytical skills
- Must have 5 years’ experience in industrial controls maintenance environment.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have advanced knowledge of electrical theory & principles of operation & instrumentation skills that include working with PLC based hardware and software.
- Must be willing to cross train in other maintenance disciplines.
- Must have good electrical troubleshooting skills and the ability to make quick & accurate electrical repairs & program changes.
- Must have experience in preventive and predictive techniques.
- Must be able to work in and around extreme temperatures, able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, climb, twist and reach above shoulder level. Able to occasionally lift up to 50# and operate power industrial trucks.
- Minimum of a 2-year technical degree (Associates Degree in Mechatronics, IET, EET)
