A leading global AmLaw firm is seeking a Managing Clerk to join its Washington, DC office within the firm’s Managing Attorney’s Office. This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced court and docketing professional with strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures and a background supervising legal support workflows.

The Managing Attorney’s Office supports the firm’s litigation practices on court-related matters, including litigation monitoring, filing and service of pleadings and other court documents, deadline tracking, court research, public records retrieval, attorney admissions, and guidance on court rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Managing Attorney with the day-to-day operations of the Managing Attorney’s Office
  • Supervise and assign work to a team of two Assistant Managing Clerks
  • Monitor and distribute work from the department’s shared inbox
  • Coordinate and oversee the filing and service of litigation documents
  • Conduct research into federal and state court filings and public records
  • Monitor ECF notifications and case updates for significant developments
  • Set up and distribute docket alerts and monitor updates
  • Prepare reports and memoranda regarding attorney admissions and renewal requirements
  • Troubleshoot ECF filing issues and provide guidance to junior clerks
  • Manage and maintain attorney PACER accounts
  • Review docketing and calendaring assignments for accuracy
  • Serve as a liaison with court personnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in an AmLaw 100 Managing Attorney’s Office, Managing Clerk’s Office, or comparable litigation/court services environment
  • Prior supervisory or management experience
  • Strong expertise with PACER and CM/ECF
  • Experience with Bloomberg Law
  • Experience with CourtAlert or a comparable docketing/calendaring system
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures
  • Familiarity with attorney licensing and renewal processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage team workflows, priorities, and deadlines

Compensation

$120,000–$140,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
