Leave of Absence & Benefits Specialist
Pay: $29/hour
Location: Onsite in North Kingstown, RI
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Leave of Absence & Benefits Specialist to support employee leave administration, ADA accommodations, and benefits-related processes. The ideal candidate will have approximately 4 years of hands-on leave of absence experience, including strong knowledge of FMLA and ADA regulations.
This position will serve as a key point of contact for employees, managers, payroll, benefits vendors, and third-party leave administrators throughout the leave and return-to-work process.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate employee leaves of absence, including FMLA and other applicable federal and state leave programs
- Support the ADA accommodation and interactive process
- Communicate with employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, documentation, status, and return-to-work requirements
- Partner with third-party leave administrators (TPAs) to ensure leaves are processed accurately and efficiently
- Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, HR, and external vendors regarding employee leave matters
- Track leave cases, required documentation, deadlines, and return-to-work information
- Assist with benefits reconciliations and resolve discrepancies as needed
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee leave and benefits records
- Provide responsive and professional customer service to employees throughout the leave process
- Assist with workers’ compensation matters as needed
- Ensure leave administration practices remain compliant with applicable policies and regulations
Qualifications
- Approximately 4+ years of Leave of Absence and ADA experience preferred
- Strong working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and related leave regulations
- Experience managing or supporting the ADA accommodation process
- Previous experience working with a third-party leave administrator
- Benefits administration and/or benefits reconciliation experience
- Workers’ compensation experience is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and employee-relations skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, payroll teams, and benefits vendors
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple leave cases simultaneously
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information professionally
