Contoller – Medical Devices – $150,000
Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for leading corporate accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, cost accounting, and technical accounting functions. This role oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensures accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and serves as a key business partner to operational leaders and executive management.
This position requires a hands-on finance leader with strong manufacturing and inventory accounting expertise, including standard costing, overhead absorption, inventory valuation, variance analysis, capital assets, and technical accounting. The Controller plays a critical role in enhancing financial processes, strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, and providing actionable insights into product margins, manufacturing costs, and operational profitability.
Essential Functions:

Manage and review timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.

Analyze departmental and organization-wide P&L results compared to budget, forecast, and operating plans.

Prepare financial reporting packages and accompanying analyses for senior management, executive leadership, and the Board of Directors.

Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability.

Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Own and manage the cost accounting function, including standard costing, inventory valuation, product costing, and manufacturing variance analysis.

Maintain and review standard costs, labor rates, overhead rates, and manufacturing cost assumptions.

Analyze and report manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance, usage variance, efficiency variance, overhead absorption, and volume variance.

Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Engineering to monitor cost drivers, production performance, and margin trends.

Support product margin analysis, project profitability, and cost-reduction initiatives.

Review inventory reserves, excess and obsolete inventory calculations, and lower-of-cost-or-market considerations.

Ensure accurate accounting across all inventory stages, including raw materials, work-in-process, finished goods, and service inventory.

Support periodic cycle counts, physical inventories, and the resolution of inventory discrepancies.

Provide financial support for make-versus-buy decisions, capital investments, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Serve as a technical accounting resource for complex matters, including revenue recognition, leases, capitalization, impairments, and foreign currency.

Establish, maintain, and improve internal controls over financial reporting, accounting operations, cash, and fixed assets.

Lead or support the development of annual operating plans, capital budgets, and periodic forecasts.

Manage fixed asset and intangible asset schedules, depreciation, and amortization.

Coordinate tax filings, compliance activities, and interactions with external tax advisors.
Education, Training, and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration required; MBA preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment (regulated production or discrete manufacturing experience preferred).
- Mandarin speaking Highly Strong business acumen, with advanced interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Demonstrated ability to leverage technology and automation tools to streamline financial processes and reporting.
