Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the company’s accounting and finance operations, with a primary focus on cash management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position will work closely with the CFO, senior management, front office staff, and outside financial partners to ensure the accurate and timely processing of business transactions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, and experience working with financial reporting systems and spreadsheets. The Staff Accountant will also support proactive internal controls and fraud detection procedures while providing management with financial information to assist with business planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable activities related to cash management.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records of company cash activity and banking transactions.
  • Serve as a backup for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions across both company locations.
  • Assist with the daily administration and operations of the Accounting and Finance department.
  • Support cash management, banking, payables, receivables, and other general accounting functions.
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports for the CFO and senior management.
  • Analyze financial information and provide reporting to support business planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving internal controls and proactive fraud detection procedures.
  • Work closely with front office staff, outside service providers, and upper management to ensure accurate processing of business transactions.
  • Assist external CPAs with year-end financial reviews by preparing requested schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial information within our financial reporting systems.
  • Utilize Excel and other spreadsheet applications to analyze, organize, and report financial data.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies and work with appropriate departments to resolve issues.
  • Provide additional financial analysis and reporting as requested by senior management.
  • Support additional Accounting and Finance projects and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Previous professional accounting experience, preferably involving Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and general accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with financial reporting and accounting software
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate financial information professionally with employees, outside partners, and senior management.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.
