A growing, well-established precision manufacturing organization in Central Connecticut is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting and finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a company that is continuing to invest in and strengthen its finance organization. The position has been elevated into a Senior Accountant role as the company expands the responsibilities and capabilities of its accounting function.

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Controller and work closely with the CFO and a collaborative accounting team of approximately five employees.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $85,000–$100,000
  • Bonus: Eligible for approximately 6% discretionary annual bonus
  • Schedule: Onsite Monday–Friday
  • Location: Berlin, CT

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end close, general ledger activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, and manufacturing-related accounting.

This individual should be comfortable working in a hands-on accounting environment and partnering closely with operations, finance leadership, and other departments across the organization.

Manufacturing accounting experience is strongly preferred and will be a key consideration for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Perform general ledger accounting activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Support and help drive month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Support inventory accounting and other manufacturing-related accounting activities.
  • Monitor and assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable activities.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances, discrepancies, and accounting issues.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations as applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, reporting, and efficiencies.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations and other departments to provide accurate financial information and support business decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to other members of the accounting team as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior accounting experience within a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with inventory or manufacturing accounting highly desirable.
  • Experience working with ERP systems required; prior experience with Plex or a similar manufacturing ERP is a plus but not required.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a hands-on, fast-paced accounting environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required.
