Mechanical Project Engineer II

Location: Bristol, PA
Compensation: $85,000–$95,000 + 10% Annual Bonus

A growing midsize manufacturing organization is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer II to lead equipment, process improvement, and operational engineering projects within its manufacturing facility.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Project Engineer II will develop and implement engineering solutions designed to improve manufacturing performance, equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this individual will manage projects from problem definition and initial design through implementation and ongoing production support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering and process improvement projects from initial concept through installation, startup, and validation.
  • Develop detailed technical drawings, manufacturing schematics, equipment layouts, and 2D/3D models.
  • Create initial design concepts using engineering data, calculations, measurements, and preliminary sketches.
  • Design and revise mechanical components, assemblies, equipment layouts, and production documentation.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, manufacturing, and safety teams.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues during project installation and implementation.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for manufacturing equipment and operational processes.
  • Create complete and accurate design documentation within established project timelines.
  • Translate preliminary concepts and sketches into functional models, part drawings, and assembly documents.
  • Develop production layouts and drawings for both new and existing equipment.
  • Research equipment, components, and technical specifications through vendors and engineering resources.
  • Support the standardization and continuous improvement of engineering drawings and design documentation.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining strong organization, documentation, and follow-through.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Approximately 3–7 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least four years of experience producing technical drawings and managing mechanical engineering projects.
  • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience designing, installing, or improving manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and engineering analysis skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering, operations, maintenance, and manufacturing personnel.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and documentation capabilities.
  • Ability to independently manage projects while collaborating effectively across departments.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Experience

  • Mechanical drafting or design certification.
  • Experience with mechanical manufacturing processes and production equipment.
  • Experience managing concurrent equipment design, installation, and process improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing-floor responsibilities.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, noise, chemicals, fumes, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Approximately 5% travel.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $85,000–$95,000
  • 10% annual performance bonus
  • Benefits begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment
