Civil Engineer – Land Development

About the Role:
A well-established civil engineering and land surveying firm in the Mystic, CT area is seeking a Civil Engineer with 2-6+ years of experience to join their growing team. This is a hands-on role working on residential and commercial land development projects throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island, from concept through permit approval and construction.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and prepare site plans, grading plans, drainage plans, and utility layouts for residential and commercial land development projects
- Design septic systems and stormwater management systems in compliance with CT and RI state standards
- Prepare permit applications and coordinate with local and state regulatory agencies including inland wetlands, zoning, health departments, and DEEP
- Conduct site visits and field investigations to support design work
- Collaborate with surveyors, clients, contractors, and municipal officials throughout the project lifecycle
- Produce construction documents and technical reports
- Use AutoCAD or Civil 3D to develop accurate engineering drawings and plans
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred
- 2-6+ years of experience in land development, site civil engineering, or related field
- Experience with site planning, grading, drainage design, and utility layout
- Knowledge of septic system design a strong plus
- Experience with local and state permitting in CT and/or RI preferred
- AutoCAD or Civil 3D proficiency preferred
- EIT or PE license preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
