Master Control Operator
Location: Fort Myers, FL
Hours: M-F 8am-5pm; must be open to weekends/on-call
Pay: $18-22/hour depending on experience
Position Overview
Responsible for monitoring and controlling multi-channel TV broadcasts to ensure programming, commercials, alerts, graphics, and live content air correctly. Requires strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced 24/7 broadcast environment.
Job Duties
- Monitor and control on-air signals across multiple stations/subchannels.
- Operate broadcast automation/playout systems (Florical; Utah Scientific a plus).
- Manage programming, commercials, promos, graphics, EAS alerts, and live/breaking news feeds.
- Perform audio/video, captioning, and signal quality checks.
- Troubleshoot broadcast issues and escalate to engineering.
- Maintain FCC/station logs and documentation.
- Monitor satellite/IP feeds and broadcast equipment (servers, routers, switchers).
- Coordinate with programming, news, traffic, and engineering teams.
Job Requirements
- Broadcast Technology, Communications, or related background.
- 1+ year broadcast operations experience preferred (internships/recent grads considered).
- Experience with automation/playout systems (Florical preferred).
- Knowledge of FCC regulations and broadcast standards.
- Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Basic audio/video, networking, and IT troubleshooting skills.
- Able to remain calm during technical issues and work independently.
- Flexible schedule for weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call needs.
