Charge Entry Specialist
Job Type: Temporary
Assignment Length: Through September, with a strong possibility of extension
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $27/hr
Primary Responsibilities
- Enter physician and procedure charges into the electronic medical record (EMR) and billing system.
- Verify CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for completeness and accuracy.
- Review provider documentation and encounter forms for missing or incomplete information.
- Ensure charges are entered accurately and within established productivity standards.
- Correct charge entry errors and communicate documentation issues with providers and clinical staff.
- Collaborate with coding, billing, and accounts receivable teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and other revenue cycle duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, charge entry, or medical coding.
- Some coding experience is preferred, but candidates with strong medical billing experience will also be considered.
- Certification is not required.
- Working knowledge of:
- CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Medical terminology
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and billing systems
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and data entry accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
