Senior Electrical Engineer – Middlesex County, Massachusetts
Salary: $155,000 + Bonus
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Littleton, working on the heart of a cutting-edge proton therapy platform. This isn’t a siloed role; we need someone who wants to own the full product lifecycle—from initial architectural concepts and schematic capture to troubleshooting issues on the production floor or in the field.
You will be the technical lead for complex electrical subsystems, balancing high-voltage power electronics and precision analog/digital control circuitry. Beyond your own design work, you’ll be a mentor, helping our junior engineers refine their design methodologies and raising the bar for our entire technical team.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
- Driving Design: You will lead the development of critical electrical subsystems, ensuring that our power electronics and control circuits are as robust as they are innovative.
- Full Lifecycle Ownership: You’ll be responsible for the “cradle-to-grave” process—designing, prototyping, verifying, and eventually troubleshooting complex assemblies.
- Collaboration: We operate as a cross-functional unit. You’ll work closely with our mechanical, software, and physics teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Technical Integrity: You will define the standards for schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and design verification. When things get difficult during commissioning or field operations, you will be the go-to person to solve the problem.
- Mentorship: You’ll naturally provide technical guidance, helping less experienced engineers grow their skills through your own design philosophy and best practices.
Who We Are Looking For
We value depth of experience over box-ticking. You should have a proven track record of taking complex products from concept through to reliable production.
- Experience: BS in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Master’s degree with 7+ years. We are specifically looking for folks with a background in complex, high-reliability product development.
- Technical Depth: You have mastered schematic capture, PCB layout (Altium/OrCAD), and circuit simulation. You understand the nuances of high-voltage power electronics and AC/DC distribution.
- Autonomy: You are a self-starter. You know how to plan a project, hit performance and cost targets, and pivot between priorities without needing constant oversight.
- Standards Mindset: You understand that safety is paramount. Experience with IEC 60601 and medical device electrical safety standards is a significant plus.
- Innovation: We are interested in engineers who are already exploring how to use AI tools to speed up design cycles or solve tough technical bottlenecks.
