Primary Responsibilities
- Enter physician and procedure charges into the electronic medical record (EMR) and billing system.
- Verify CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for completeness and accuracy.
- Review encounter forms and provider documentation for missing or incomplete information.
- Ensure charges are entered within established productivity and accuracy standards.
- Correct charge entry errors and communicate documentation issues with providers or clinical staff.
- Work closely with coding, billing, and accounts receivable teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and other revenue cycle tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred).
- 1–3 years of medical billing, charge entry, or medical coding experience.
- Knowledge of:
- CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Medical terminology
- Insurance billing processes
