Location: Manhattan, NY (Float between two outpatient locations)
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week (Full-Time)
Salary: $110,000–$120,000 annually
An established academic outpatient dermatology practice is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to support a busy Dermatologic Surgery/Mohs Surgery service. This is an excellent opportunity for an RN with experience in surgical dermatology, Mohs surgery, cosmetic dermatology, or other outpatient procedural specialties who enjoys working closely with physicians in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.
This position primarily supports Mohs surgery and may occasionally assist with cosmetic dermatology procedures. The RN will work across two Manhattan outpatient locations.
Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during Mohs and other dermatologic surgical procedures
- Prepare patients before procedures and provide post-operative care and education
- Administer medications, local anesthetics (per protocol), immunizations, and wound care
- Perform telephone, patient portal, and in-person triage
- Coordinate patient care, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up
- Review laboratory and pathology results and communicate with patients as appropriate
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Remove sutures, perform dressing changes, and provide procedural support
- Maintain surgical supplies, equipment, and medication inventory
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care
- Float between two outpatient practice locations as needed
Qualifications
- Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum of 4 years of RN experience (clinical rotations may count toward experience requirements)
- Experience in Mohs surgery, surgical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, or another outpatient procedural/surgical specialty strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and patient education skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient procedural setting
