Position: FAA Blasting Operator (Temporary – different from Frances who is temp-to-hire). This person will be specifically working in walk-in blasting only.

Pay Rate: $20–$24 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday

  • Either 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Or 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Position Summary
The FAA Abrasive Blasting Operator prepares metal and composite surfaces for repair, coating, or finishing using compressed air and abrasive materials. This role plays a key part in ensuring aircraft components meet quality, safety, and FAA regulatory standards. The selected candidate will be subject to random drug testing as required by FAA guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate abrasive blasting equipment, including sandblasting machines, air compressors, and related tools.
  • Remove contaminants such as rust, scale, paint, and coatings to prepare surfaces for painting or repairs.
  • Select appropriate abrasive media (sand, grit, shot, etc.) based on the surface type and required finish.
  • Maintain blasting equipment by cleaning and inspecting hoses, nozzles, and other components.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Read, interpret, and execute work orders accurately.
  • Identify and handle parts using visual and electronic references.
  • Prepare components for subsequent processes, such as painting, anodizing, and surface treatment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production needs.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1+ year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English per FAA requirements.
  • Knowledge of FAA processes, SPOPs, and documentation standards.
  • Familiarity with various metal and composite substrates encountered in aerospace production.
  • Understanding of proper stripping procedures for applicable materials and coatings.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Physically able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
