The Senior Firm Intelligence & Analytics Manager translates the needs of MBD and other stakeholders into practical firm intelligence and analytics capabilities, leveraging technology to help drive firm growth. In collaboration with the Associate Director, MBD Technology & Intelligence, the role helps discover, design, build, and incubate capabilities that connect the firm’s people, client, matter, experience, expertise, and relationship data to support business development, marketing, and strategic planning.
The role develops scalable capabilities, including visualizations, dashboards, pattern-detection tools, and data products, and works across MBD, including Business Intelligence, Technology, and Operations, as well as with other firm and vendor partners, to bring them to life. Success is measured by whether capabilities are trusted, adopted, sustainable, and continuously improved, enabling stakeholders to discover, reuse, interpret, and apply intelligence effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Firm Intelligence
- Build and connect one integrated firm intelligence capability across people, client, matter, experience, expertise, and relationship data to support expertise discovery, matter and experience reuse, pursuits, cross-selling, key accounts, client growth, and practice and industry strategy.
- Lead the development of practical capabilities, standards, and measurable outcomes in collaboration with the Associate Director and stakeholders, using independent judgment to assess business needs, set priorities, sequence work, and manage trade-offs.
- Partner with KM/Innovation and relevant stakeholders on firmwide intelligence, enrichment, and broader ecosystem data decisions, while working with BD, Marketing, practice and industry leaders to identify high-value use cases and make intelligence connectable to business development and strategic planning workflows.
- Create reusable tools and scalable access that enable stakeholders to discover, interpret, and apply firm intelligence through clear definitions and practical guidance.
Analytics Capabilities & Methods
- Design and maintain analytical methods and tools that surface patterns, relationships, trends, and gaps for interpretation by the BI Manager and business stakeholders in connected firm and business development data for use by the BI Manager and business stakeholders.
- Design, build, or direct the development of visualizations, dashboards, scorecards, and other analytical views that make intelligence accessible, trusted, and usable.
- Provide analytical methods, tools, and outputs that enable the BI Manager and business stakeholders to develop recommendations and decision support for leadership, BD, Marketing, practices, industries, key accounts, pursuits, and client growth.
- Define analytical approaches, metric logic, and reusable methods that enable consistent measurement of adoption, usage, data quality, outcomes, and business value; document assumptions and limitations clearly.
- Prototype or direct prototypes of analytical and AI-enabled capabilities with business and technical partners, testing utility, accuracy, explainability, and responsible use.
Cross-Functional Delivery & Execution
- Lead complex initiatives through discovery, translation, design, build, and incubation, coordinating business, technical, operations, and vendor partners across multiple workstreams.
- Lead capability development and cross-functional execution in collaboration with the Associate Director, MBD Technology & Intelligence, and relevant stakeholders, partnering with business stakeholders on validation, with MBD Operations on activation and adoption, and with all functions on stabilization and sustained improvement.
- Exercise independent judgment to resolve ambiguity, surface trade-offs, and keep priorities aligned with firm, practice, industry, and client-growth needs.
- Recognize that different functions lead at different stages of the lifecycle while participation continues throughout, and lead through influence and subject-matter credibility, creating shared accountability for delivery, adoption, and measurable business outcomes. The function builds capabilities for the people whose work they support and transitions ongoing ownership to the appropriate business or operating function; it does not exist to own the resulting capability forever.
Data Connections, Definitions, Governance & Quality
- Shape data connections, integrations, pipelines, and synchronization across relevant platforms; identify root causes of recurring issues and coordinate durable remediation.
- Develop and maintain practical taxonomies, data structures, and shared information models that support consistent discovery and analysis.
- Establish trusted definitions, metric logic, lineage, and documentation so stakeholders interpret and apply intelligence consistently.
- Set and monitor standards for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, duplication, access, and fitness for use; work with accountable partners to resolve quality issues.
- Support appropriate governance, access, privacy, and responsible-use practices for connected people, client, matter, experience, expertise, and relationship data.
Enablement, Adoption & Platform Stewardship
- Use platforms, integrations, data structures, automation, vendor capabilities, and responsible AI as enabling infrastructure for firm intelligence and analytics.
- Serve as Platform Steward by owning platform direction, governance, and implementation-quality accountability with technical partners; prototype capabilities directly when appropriate and partner on requirements, acceptance criteria, and maintainable solutions, with technical teams handling system administration and integration engineering.
- Evaluate tools, vendors, and emerging technologies in support of capability priorities; contribute to vendor partnerships and roadmap decisions based on fit, risk, adoption, scalability, and measurable value.
- Experiment responsibly with AI-enabled approaches, including appropriate human review, validation, documentation, and controls.
- Build repeatable workflows, dashboards, definitions, and documentation; track adoption, quality, efficiency, and business value to improve capabilities.
- Assume additional responsibilities as requested.
- This role requires 60% in office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time. Occasional travel between offices may be required.
