Operating as the right hand to the Warehouse Manager on all inventory-control matters, you will establish inventory accuracy standards, lead variance investigations, support audit readiness, and provide technical guidance to warehouse personnel. This role balances hands-on material handling with analytical problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement (no direct people-management responsibilities).
Key Responsibilities
-
Cycle Counting & Physical Inventories: Own and lead daily inventory-control cycles, count schedules, periodic physical counts, reconciliation, and audit readiness.
-
Discrepancy Investigation: Analyze variances involving part numbers, serial/lot tracking, work orders, purchase orders, returns, and ERP discrepancies; execute root-cause analyses and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
-
Advanced ERP Transactions: Oversee and execute precise inventory transactions across receiving, put-away, staging, transfers, and manufacturing consumption.
-
Compliance & Traceability: Ensure high-value, serialized, and sensitive materials are accurately tracked, labeled, and handled in strict alignment with regulated quality standards.
-
Material Disposition Support: Assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR), Return Material Authorizations (RMA), and Return-to-Vendor (RTV) workflows.
-
Mentorship & Technical Direction: Serve as the go-to escalation resource for warehouse staff, providing coaching on proper ERP workflows, inventory control protocols, and material-handling best practices.
-
Process Improvement: Lead or participate in lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to streamline material flow, warehouse performance, and documentation standards.
-
Hands-on Execution: Support active warehouse operations as needed, including receiving, staging, picking, and operating material-handling equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced technical training or relevant certifications a plus.
-
Experience: 10–12+ years of progressive experience in inventory control, materials management, warehouse operations, or logistics.
-
Industry Background: Experience working within a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., medical device, advanced electronics, aerospace, or precision capital equipment) strongly preferred.
-
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency with enterprise ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel formulas and reporting).
-
Material Tracking: Hands-on experience managing serialized, lot-controlled, sensitive, or high-value materials.
-
Equipment Certification: Active Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) certification (forklift, order picker, reach truck) or the ability/willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
-
Physical Ability: Comfortable standing/walking throughout a warehouse environment, utilizing handheld RF barcode scanners, and lifting up to 25–30 lbs safely.
