Human Resources Manager
Location: Durham, CT
We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to head up the organization’s HR function and serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an HR professional who can balance the operational requirements of Human Resources with employee engagement, talent development, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the organization’s Human Resources function, including policies, compliance, benefits, employee relations, and talent management
- Supervise and develop members of the HR team while establishing priorities and ensuring effective execution of HR initiatives
- Partner with senior leadership and department managers on workforce planning, organizational development, and employee-related matters
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership and management regarding employee relations, performance management, workplace policies, and employment practices
- Oversee the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, performance management, and offboarding
- Manage employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture initiatives
- Oversee compensation and benefits programs and ensure compliance with applicable state and federal requirements
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with Connecticut and federal employment laws and regulations
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and organizational effectiveness
- Support managers with performance-related issues, employee concerns, and workplace investigations
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee and organizational matters
- Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to the HR team
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally in a management seat.
- Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring HR professionals in a office environment.
- Strong knowledge of Connecticut and federal employment laws and HR compliance
- Demonstrated experience with employee relations, benefits, compensation, performance management, and HR operations
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining comfortable with hands-on HR responsibilities
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Experience developing and implementing HR policies, programs, and processes
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees, managers, and executive leadership
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is preferred but not required
