Position Overview

Our client, a growing manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced and motivated HR Generalist to support a broad range of human resources functions. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building strong relationships while ensuring HR operations run efficiently and compliantly.

The HR Generalist will play a key role in onboarding, payroll administration, employee relations, compliance, benefits support, and HRIS management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional support to both employees and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage the full-cycle onboarding process, ensuring a positive and compliant new hire experience.
  • Assist with payroll processing by reviewing employee data, ensuring accuracy, and supporting timely payroll completion.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and manage HR data within the HRIS system.
  • Serve as a resource for employees by responding to HR-related questions and assisting with policy interpretation.
  • Support employee relations efforts, including conflict resolution, coaching managers, and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, company policies, and HR best practices.
  • Assist with benefits administration, employee enrollment, and benefits-related inquiries.
  • Prepare HR reports, maintain required documentation, and support internal or external audits.
  • Partner with leadership on recruiting, workforce planning, and other HR initiatives.
  • Work effectively within a unionized manufacturing environment while maintaining an understanding of collective bargaining agreements and related employment practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HR processes and employee experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an HR Generalist or comparable Human Resources role.
  • Experience working with an HRIS required
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes and HR compliance.
  • Experience supporting employees in a union environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with California labor laws is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or progress toward certification is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on professional with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR technology platforms.
