Payroll Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage high-volume payroll processing for both U.S. and Canadian employees. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has experience supporting multi-state payroll in a manufacturing environment and thrives in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume payroll for approximately 1,000 employees across the U.S. and Canada.
- Administer payroll for both salaried and hourly (non-exempt) employees.
- Process multi-state payroll across operations in 12 states, ensuring compliance with applicable wage and tax regulations.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely payroll completion.
- Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposit information.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and support payroll audits.
- Support payroll tax processing and compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll regulations.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and plant leadership to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee information.
- Contribute to process improvements and support payroll system updates and enhancements.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Experience processing U.S. and Canadian payroll required.
- Experience with multi-state payroll required.
- Experience processing payroll for both salaried and hourly employees required.
- Knowledge of payroll taxes and payroll audits is a strong plus.
- Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with UKG Pro strongly preferred; experience with comparable HRIS/payroll systems will also be considered.
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict payroll deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Payroll tax filing and reconciliation experience.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- CPP/FPC certification is a plus.
