Variable Compensation Manager
Location: Melville, NY (Hybrid – 2 Days Onsite / 3 Days Remote)
Salary: $125,000 Base + Bonus
A growing, industry-leading organization is seeking a Variable Compensation Manager to own the design, administration, analysis, and optimization of company-wide incentive compensation programs. This is a highly visible role partnering with Finance, Human Resources, and executive leadership to ensure commission and bonus programs are accurate, competitive, and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities
- Design, administer, and enhance commission, bonus, and incentive compensation programs.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual commission and bonus calculations for approximately 300 employees across 10-12 compensation plans.
- Partner with Finance to forecast compensation expense, budgeting, and accruals.
- Develop financial models and perform detailed compensation analysis using advanced Excel.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to compensation processes, reporting, and supporting technology.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding commission calculations and incentive plans.
- Collaborate with HR and executive leadership to develop plan documentation and ensure governance and compliance.
- Conduct market research and benchmarking to ensure compensation programs remain competitive.
- Analyze plan effectiveness and recommend enhancements that support organizational growth and employee performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Human Resources, Economics, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience administering and designing variable compensation, incentive, or commission programs.
- Strong experience supporting sales commissions or incentive plans within a staffing or service-based organization is highly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, financial modeling, and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience evaluating or implementing compensation systems is a plus.
