Position: DevOps Engineer
Location- Waterbury, CT
Schedule- Hybrid 3/2
We’re looking for a DevOps / Platform Engineer to take ownership of our existing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment and help modernize how we build, deploy, and operate software.
You’ll start by stabilizing and optimizing a Kubernetes-based production application, then play a key role in shaping our broader cloud and DevOps strategy as we evolve toward a more scalable, automated platform.
Responsibilities and Duties
· Take ownership of our existing GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) environment, ensuring stability, performance, scalability, and reliability
· Build, maintain, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, safe, and repeatable deployments across environments
· Define and support service reliability practices, including SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets to measure and improve system performance
· Manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ensuring consistent, version-controlled, and auditable infrastructure changes
· Strengthen observability across systems by implementing and improving monitoring, logging, alerting, and dashboards
· Participate in incident response and lead root cause analysis (RCA) to drive long-term system improvements and reduce repeat issues
· Partner with developers to reduce deployment friction, improve release cycles, and increase overall engineering velocity
· Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across infrastructure, application, and networking layers
· Contribute to the long-term DevOps and platform engineering strategy, including standardization, automation, and modernization initiatives
· Support modernization of legacy systems and infrastructure to improve scalability, maintainability, and performance
Qualifications and Skills
· 3+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles
· Strong hands-on experience with GCP and Kubernetes (GKE preferred)
· Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, etc.)
· Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC tools (ARM templates or Google Cloud Deployment Manager)
· Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
· Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, firewalls, load balancing)
· Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
· Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, GCP Monitoring, UpTimeRobot)
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Azure or multi-cloud environments
· Experience modernizing legacy systems
· Familiarity with database systems (PostgreSQL, SQL/NoSQL)
· Cloud certifications (GCP or Azure)
· Familiarity with SecOps practices, including: security monitoring, incident response workflows, and DevSecOps integration within CI/CD pipelines
