Accounts Payable Specialist
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team. This role is responsible for the full-cycle accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a nonprofit or higher education environment and be proficient in Workday.
Key Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice receipt, coding, approval routing, and payment processing.

Perform 3-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and vendor invoices.

Process vendor payments via ACH, EFT, and wire transfers.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.

Prepare and analyze AP aging reports and follow up on outstanding items.

Support month-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and AP reporting.

Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to address payment inquiries and resolve issues.

Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation as needed.
Qualifications

3+ years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization or higher education environment.

Experience with full-cycle AP processing and 3-way matching.

Hands-on experience processing ACH, EFT, and wire payments.

Strong understanding of AP aging reports and vendor account reconciliations.

Experience supporting month-end close activities.

Proficiency with Workday ERP required.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a fast-paced finance or shared services environment.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
