Registered Nurse – Pediatrics (up to age 25)

Full time Mon-Fri (5×8, days)
Salary $70-105k based on experience

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join a dynamic Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine department serving patients from birth through age 25. This is a great opportunity for an RN who is passionate about working with young patients in a collaborative, team-based clinical environment. Although experience is preferred, recent graduates are encouraged to apply.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Practice

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to pediatric and adolescent patients (birth–age 25) in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
  • Triage patients in person and by phone to prioritize and coordinate care
  • Administer medications and vaccinations per provider orders or standing orders; provide appropriate patient education
  • Assist providers with exams, treatments, and procedures as needed
  • Monitor and document patient status, including responses to medications and treatments
  • Complete nurse visits in accordance with clinical protocols
  • Perform Point of Care Testing per protocol
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain equipment to ensure a safe care environment
  • Ensure proper collection, storage, and processing of biologic specimens
  • Assist with clinical procedures in accordance with national patient safety standards
  • Collaborate with providers on follow-up and treatment of infectious diseases
  • Communicate public health information to regulatory bodies as required; maintain infectious disease records
  • Ensure timely completion of quality control, infection control, and equipment maintenance logs
  • Assist in maintaining adequate supplies of medications and vaccines

Health Coaching

  • Educate and support patients and families on disease prevention, health status, medications, and care plans
  • Assist patients in setting and tracking self-management goals
  • Use data reports to identify and address gaps in care

Care Coordination

  • Accurately and timely document all aspects of patient care
  • Coordinate care with team members, other departments, and community agencies
  • Facilitate home care orders and coordinate with home care agencies
  • Schedule laboratory, diagnostic, and follow-up appointments
  • Manage calls from patients, external providers, and pharmacies
  • Follow up on diagnostic and laboratory results
  • Serve as a resource for medical assistants on patient preparation and procedures
  • Identify and communicate relevant social determinants of health to providers
  • Assist with prior authorizations as needed

Professionalism

  • Maintain required certifications and training including CPR, HIPAA, infection control, and others as assigned
  • Adhere to infection control standards, universal precautions, OSHA, and CLIA requirements
  • Communicate with patients in their preferred language, utilizing interpretive services as needed
  • Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives
  • Complete professional development requirements in a timely manner
  • Perform all duties in accordance with organizational values, compliance standards, and policies

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Valid state RN licensure
  • CPR certification at the healthcare provider level (or eligible to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice and commitment to high-quality patient care
  • Ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse patient population
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer systems

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • 1–2 years of nursing experience, preferably in Pediatrics or Adolescent Medicine
  • Experience working with socioeconomically diverse or multiethnic populations
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish or other languages a plus)
