Payroll Accountant

Job Description

Job Purpose

This position will be responsible for various general accounting responsibilities, with an emphasis on daily payroll processing, payroll posting, and reconciliations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Adheres to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including collecting, calculating and inputting payroll data for employees.
  • Help maintain payroll systems, ensure data integrity and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Cross functional collaboration with HR, IT, Finance and other departments to gather and validate payroll information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions and salary changes.
  • Monitor and resolve payroll discrepancies, investigating and resolving issues promptly and accurately.
  • Generate payroll reports, including tax filings, benefits deductions and other required reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and data security standards for all sensitive information.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations and industry trends, implementing necessary changes to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and tax regulations. This includes managing multistate tax filings and reporting.
  • Follow all company policies and maintain a positive, professional solutions focused attitude.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll required.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Finance or related field strongly preferred; combination of school or professional training and experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience with HRMS and Sage Time and Attendance experience preferred.
  • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills including accruals and computer data entry required, high level proficiency in accounting software, ERP software, and Microsoft Office.
