Job Description
Responsible for the business components of the law firm, including finance and accounting, information technology, human resources oversight and business operations and management. Report to the Managing Partner and Management Committee, and advise on issues affecting the business operations of the law firm. Experience with Law Firm Operations and Policies and Procedures.
Finance and Accounting:
Responsible for all finance and accounting, including day to day cash management and billing and receivables management.
Provide support to Office Manager and administrative assistants on billing and accounting matters.
Prepare monthly financial reports for distribution to partners and other attorneys as directed.
Work directly with outside CPA firm for tax return preparation and other matters.
Prepare Fixed Asset Listings and depreciation reports in conjunction with outside CPA firm.
Work with firm bank officers on banking related matters.
Review and approve vendor invoices as appropriate.
Support Office Manager on posting receipts, properly recording transactions, and related items.
Human Resources:
Oversee payroll operations, ensure employees are paid in timely and correct manner, confirming salary, taxes and withholdings are properly accounted for.
Work with brokers on Health, Dental, Life, AD&D, and LTD Insurance renewals and administration.
Work with outside vendors on firm Profit Sharing Plan administration, discrimination testing and related processes, including Form 5500 and other tax related transactions.
Meet with individual employees as they become eligible to join the plan to review the plan and to assist with getting employees enrolled. Discuss benefits of the plan and other issues as needed.
Business Management:
Responsible for business insurance policies, including Cyber Security, Professional Liability Insurance, Workmen’s Compensation, Fiduciary and General Business Package insurance in conjunction with Firm Managing Partner.
Work with firm’s outside brokers on these items as appropriate.
Work with building management on lease-related issues, including calculation of CAM charges and other issues as needed.
Support staff on business operations issues as needed.
Information Technology:
Have a working understanding of the firm’s technology applications (in particular, TABS3, Practice Master, and Net Documents).
Coordinate with vendors as needed.
General:
Provide support and advice to Management Committee and Partners on all aspects of the finance, business and administrative aspects of Law Firm Management.
General practice firm with a focus on trusts & estates, litigation, corporate and real estate work.
