Controller – Southborough – 145k

Job Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Controller, located in Southborough, Massachusetts. This role operates on-site and requires a strong understanding of financial processes, accounting software systems, and ERP systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the general ledger close process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Utilizing ERP System to generate necessary reports for financial analysis.
  • Review of bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Using accounting software systems to streamline financial operations and improve efficiency.
  • Overseeing core accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) and Payroll.
  • Implementing and maintaining efficient accounting close processes, including reconciliations, accruals and journal entries.
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and audit compliance
  • Hire, train and supervise accounting staff.
  • Collaborating with the finance team to improve financial procedures and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts and financial plans to support business objectives.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Ten or more years of professional accounting experience.
  • Prior controllership experience desired, but will consider someone with 5 or more years senior level accounting or finance manager experience.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.
  • Exemplary history of financial project management.

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Ten or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
  • Professional certification such as CPA is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Advanced MS Office proficiency including expert Excel skills required.
