Sourcing & Cost (Reports to COO)

Job Description

CSS is partnered with a fast-growing innovator in professional audio and wireless technologies.
This company designs and manufactures specialized hardware and software solutions that deliver reliable, high-performance wireless connectivity for demanding professional environments, including live events, broadcast, and fixed installations. They’re deeply focused on solving real-world challenges in signal reliability and performance, with products trusted by professionals worldwide. As they continue to grow rapidly—insourcing more manufacturing, rolling out innovative new product lines, and expanding our market presence—this Cost & Sourcing Analyst provides exceptional visibility and impact across the entire business. Reporting to the COO, you’ll collaborate closely with finance, operations, engineering, product development, and sales/growth teams in a dynamic, hands-on setting where your work directly influences product quality, operational efficiency, margin health, and customer satisfaction.

Core Duties

A. Product Costing & Profitability Oversight

  • Own and continuously improve costing accuracy in our cloud-based ERP, tracking variances and cost drivers to keep COGS optimized and under control. Recommend changes when opportunities arise.
  • Deliver monthly profitability reporting (COGS + gross margin focus) with thoughtful narrative—highlighting root causes and trends to inform leadership decisions.
  • Direct cycle counting, physical inventory processes, and related analytics; establish and monitor KPIs to maintain strong inventory accuracy and visibility.

B. Supplier Strategy & Procurement Leadership (primary emphasis of the role)

  • Partner daily with Engineering and Operations to scout, qualify, and steward suppliers—optimizing for cost, quality, speed, and risk.
  • Support new product rollouts and design improvements by collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams on component selection and manufacturability.
  • Select and onboard vendors that align with our standards; issue and manage POs triggered by MRP, team requests, or production needs.
  • Proactively secure materials to achieve 100% availability for every planned build.
  • Manage relationships with U.S. and overseas contract manufacturers, OEMs, and ODMs alongside the Operations group.

C. Pricing Strategy & Demand-Supply Alignment

  • Collaborate with Sales/Growth to build and update competitive pricing structures each year—protecting healthy margins without sacrificing market position.
  • Create and maintain a forward-looking unit sales forecast using historical patterns and Growth team guidance; keep it live and accurate in the ERP.
  • Drive regular cross-functional planning meetings (S&OP style) to balance inventory with expected demand and keep products consistently available.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Business, or similar.
  • 5+ years working in manufacturing with direct involvement in purchasing, MRP, inventory management, and some exposure to cost/margin reporting.
  • Deep sourcing and vendor management experience is critical—this is roughly 70% of the position’s focus. We’re comfortable training on more advanced cost accounting concepts if you bring a solid baseline understanding.
  • Advanced Excel user with meaningful ERP experience (any modern system is fine; familiarity with cloud platforms is advantageous).
  • Clear communicator who can translate numbers and operational realities into actionable insights for cross-functional partners.

Total Rewards

  • Competitive salary with performance-based discretionary bonus
  • Full benefits package:
    • 401(k)
    • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
    • Life insurance
    • Generous paid time off
