Administrative Assistant - Emergency Dept

Full Time Days, Mon-Fri, 8 am-5 pm

 

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center- Emergency Dept

  • We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged and excited for growth individuals to join our team
  • 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities.
  • We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics.
  • Two helicopter pads on campus for utilization
  • We have 5 PODs in our department, depending on acuity, is where the patient will be assigned
  • Behavioral Health Pod
  • We have Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries who work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care
  • All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. RN’s must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe.
Responsibilities:

This position supports an entire department/unit and reports to Director level leadership. The focus of the position is generally on file maintenance, photocopying, mail distribution and similar routing duties. Also greets and assists people in person and/or over the telephone. Duties may include directing phone calls to appropriate person or area, and assisting and directing visitors to different department areas, scheduling meetings, and computer or data entry work will be required. Works under close supervision and generally requires little independent judgment. Many department specific duties may also be included.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

General office administration duties to include, but not limited to: mail processing, ordering and managing supplies, scheduling appointments, timekeeping, maintaining director’s calendar, data entry, etc.

 

 

Gathers information and prepares reports, project materials and composes documents.

 

 

Creates, maintains, updates and reconciles various types of documents, such as organizational charts, contact lists, vendor contacts, routine reports, etc.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

Ability to use all standard office equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, must possess an excellent command of the English language.

Knowledge of communication skills with ability to listen actively and respond to fellow employees/customers in a timely, competent manner both verbally and nonverbal.

Ability to work in a team environment and oriented to providing outstanding customer service.

Ability to adapt to change within a changing environment and industry.

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.

Qualifications: Education
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Work Experience
  • 1 year of administrative/clerical experience Required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other software programs utilized within the department Required
  • 1 year Knowledge of secretarial and office administrative procedures, including the use and operation of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through at least of related experience Required
