JOB SUMMARY: The Infrastructure Manager is accountable for the performance, reliability, security, and lifecycle management of Doyon’s enterprise infrastructure environment across the organization and its subsidiaries. This role leads and operates network, server, cloud, and communications platforms as an integrated service supporting critical business operations. This is a working manager position that combines technical leadership with hands-on execution. The Infrastructure Manager sets standards, leads infrastructure staff, and directly contributes to the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure systems as needed. The role is responsible for ensuring infrastructure services are stable, secure, and scalable, while maintaining the technical depth to engage directly in complex issues, critical incidents, and key initiatives.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Infrastructure Ownership and Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery of infrastructure services across network, systems, cloud, and communications platforms, ensuring capabilities that meet organizational expectations for availability, performance, and security.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure issues; actively engage in troubleshooting, resolution, and post-incident process improvements across all infrastructure domains.
  • Operate as a working manager by balancing team leadership with hands-on technical contribution, including direct involvement in complex implementations and critical incidents.
  • Provide direct technical leadership and guidance to infrastructure staff, ensuring consistent execution, accountability, and professional development across the team.
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve operational standards for monitoring, patch management, backup and recovery, configuration management, change control, and documentation. Ensuring infrastructure staff understand, adopt, and are held accountable to those standards.
  • Review and validate technical designs, configurations, and implementations to ensure alignment with established standards and best practices.
  • Drive alignment and integration between network, systems, and security functions to support a unified, consistently managed enterprise infrastructure model.
  • Lead infrastructure lifecycle planning, including system upgrades, technology refreshes, decommissioning, and proactive identification and remediation of technical debt.
  • Ensure infrastructure supports disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity requirements.
  • Maintain visibility into infrastructure health, performance, and risk through effective monitoring and reporting.
  • Partner with IT leadership and business stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with operational and strategic needs.
  • Own relationships with infrastructure vendors, service providers, and technology partners, including solution evaluation, contract oversight, and serving as the escalation point above day-to-day specialist coordination.
  • Contribute to infrastructure budget planning and management of operational costs.

Systems are stable, secure, and well-managed, with clear standards that are followed across the environment. Issues are identified early, resolved quickly, and used to strengthen operational processes and resilience. The Infrastructure Manager builds and leads a capable, accountable team while maintaining the technical depth to engage directly in complex work when required. Infrastructure services are predictable, scalable, and aligned across Doyon and its subsidiaries, enabling operations with confidence and reducing organizational risk.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of hands-on experience operating and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments, including server platforms, virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V), enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, firewall), and cloud services (Azure or AWS), with at least two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, and identity and access management, sufficient to provide technical oversight and serve as a credible escalation point for systems staff.
  • Demonstrated accountability for infrastructure performance in a production environment, including system availability, reliability, incident response, and enforcement of operational standards across monitoring, patch management, backup and recovery, configuration management, and change control.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities in a production environment.
  • Proven ability to function as a working manager, leading technical staff with accountability for team performance and service delivery while maintaining direct technical involvement in system design, implementation, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues spanning network, systems, and cloud environments, including serving as an escalation point for critical incidents across all infrastructure domains.
  • Lead infrastructure projects and initiatives, delegating execution to infrastructure staff while maintaining accountability for scope, quality, and delivery outcomes.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure across multiple locations, business units, or subsidiaries, with an understanding of the challenges of distributed and remote operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including translating infrastructure concepts and risks for IT leadership and business stakeholders.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting or integrating cybersecurity controls within infrastructure environments, including identity, endpoint, network security, and monitoring capabilities.
  • Experience standardizing and governing infrastructure practices at scale across multiple business units or subsidiaries, including documentation, service consistency, and operational maturity improvements.
  • Familiarity with automation or scripting to improve infrastructure efficiency and consistency (e.g., PowerShell, Python, infrastructure-as-code concepts).
  • Industry certifications in infrastructure, cloud, or networking technologies (e.g., Microsoft AZ-104, VMware VCP, Cisco CCNP, AWS/Azure) that demonstrate applied technical expertise.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities and abilities. This is a fully on-site position based out of either the Anchorage, AK or Fairbanks, AK office; remote work is not available for this role. There is a 40-hour on-site work week with on-call availability for critical incidents and infrastructure outages, shared on a rotational basis among the infrastructure team. Some travel may be required.
