Hiring for a Bilingual Counselor for a company in Lowell, MA. (Bilingual in Spanish, Khmer, or Haitian Creole required)
Pay: $24/hr
Schedule:
4 days/week, Monday – Thursday, 9am-5pm.
Some weekend availability – 24/7 crisis center people will be occasionally on call, we occasionally have weekend retreats, and we occasionally have weeknight events. There is no set in stone schedule for these occurrences.
After 90 days of training, able to work from home one day a week (either Tuesday or Thursday.
Experience/Skills:
• B.A. in social work, psychology, sociology, community organizing, or related human services field. Or equivalent lesser degree and minimum 2 years’ relevant experience
• 2-3 years of experience working in crisis intervention or systems-based advocacy services (e.g. medical, legal, public assistance, housing, etc)
• Previous experience in case management required – open to counselor/ case manager profiles who have experience working with youth with addiction, substance abuse, mental health, behavioral health, domestic abuse and sexual abuse matters.
• Providing one-on-one trauma-based counseling, on-site and in the community to increase survivor access to services – will be working onsite at center in addition to occasionally traveling to local community organizations for partner events ( in the greater Lowell area) in addition to going to company retreats.
• Trained Rape Crisis Counselor or ability to begin training within 1 month of hire
• Experience working within social change movements and the work to end sexual violence
• Maturity, sound judgment and lived experience.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills
• Good computer skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases and evaluation tools, etc.
• Ability to travel within the Greater Lowell Area and within the state
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

Vision:
1. Deliver trauma-informed and culturally attuned counseling and advocacy service to individuals seeking support
2. Serve as a member of the Centering Survivors Project Taskforce in conjunction with 3 other local Domestic Violence partner organizations
3. Collaborate with Survivor Services and Hope Prevents teams to establish a strong understanding of the implications of legislative and policy changes on the day-to-day lives of survivors and their loved ones
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
• Provide one-on-one trauma-based counseling, on-site and in the community to increase survivor access to services
• Develop and facilitate survivor support groups rooted in psychoeducation, therapeutic, wellness and reflection, and/or skills-based practice
• Work to ensure survivor services are culturally relevant to survivors and communities that we serve
• Advocate for/with survivors and provide appropriate referrals and assistance as needed.
• Establish strong working relationships with the district attorney’s office, victim service advocates, and legal service providers in the community
• Conduct community and systems outreach including focus groups, surveying, and on-site group work within community organizations to better identify the needs and promote services for survivors
• Monitor legislation and identify opportunities to participate in events that move forward policy efforts which impact on the broader community and survivors of sexual violence.
• Prepare internal and external communications around local, state, and national level policy, in collaboration with Leadership Team
• Provide educational and awareness resources around major areas of public policy to staff, volunteers, and social media
• Co-facilitate company participation in annual state-wide Advocacy Day efforts in collaboration with the statewide collaborative, Jane Doe Inc
• Provide support to events and outreach/tabling opportunities
• Provide on-call and back-up coverage for 24-hour hotline, advocacy response rotation, and web-chat services
• Once trained, support the facilitation of training initiatives
