Direct Hire 
Salary:
 $110,000-115,000/year

Location: Bristow, VA 
Shifts:

Morning Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM– 3:00 PM, with alternating weekends (two weekdays off when working a weekend)

Afternoon Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM– 11:00PM, with alternating weekends (two weekdays off when working a weekend)

Setting: Behavioral Health inpatient/residential – residents are ages 12-17 (males and females) – Residents live and go to school on campus. 

Requirements: 

  • Current active license in Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
  • CPR, First Aid, and BLS.
  • Experience in adolescent, psychiatric, and/or case management nursing required.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish & English) strongly preferred 
  • Technologically competent and familiar with electronic medical record systems.
  • Excellent social, organizational, and communication skills required.
  • Ability to apply professional knowledge to exercise independent judgement and discretion

Position Overview:

  • Supervision: RN provides guidance to team members by coordinating the use of resources and provides support to resolve issues escalated by LPNs on shift
  • Performs clinical assessments for the identification, evaluation, coordination and management of member’s needs, including physical and behavioral health, social services and long-term services
  • Identifies members for high-risk complications and coordinates care in conjunction with the member and health care team
  • Performs assigned waived testing in the laboratory to provide data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. Receives specimens and stocks supplies when received in the department. Troubleshoots/resolves instrument problems and document corrective actions in appropriate log and when necessary. Assures that quality control is properly performed and logged and follow proper department procedure for corrective action. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to train new employees.
  • Draws blood and administers injections as needed
  • Rotates weekends and participates in on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy
  • Collaborates with nurse manager to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service.
  • Supports the efforts of the facility to improve engagement by attending required/mandatory meetings.
  • Conducts new admission assessments and completes new admission tasks within time frame specified by licensing regulations.
  • Assesses and provides first aid/appropriate follow up for acute medical issues of residents
  • Responds to Medicaid/Level C incidents and conducts assessments accordingly
  • Maintains and manages quality care of residents. This includes working across the care team (nursing, case management, therapists, residential staff, etc) to ensure residents’ health and wellness needs are met in accordance with licensing requirements.
  • Maintains working knowledge of preventative care and acute care issues that affect residents in order to develop treatment care plans and perform education to assist residents in health goals
  • Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughout and high quality, patient-centered care
  • Makes appointments, maintains and edits shared calendar, processes paperwork and ensures necessary follow ups are complete, excellent and thorough documentation, performs and responds to audits to ensure health needs are being met in accordance with licensing regulations, effectively communicates with all relevant members of the care team
  • Manages multi-disciplinary care as applicable while promoting continuity of care with appropriate admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Completes and obtains necessary paperwork on each resident, schedules appointments that are needed within the set licensing parameters, reviews and enters any new or returning paperwork of all residents
  • Exercises responsibilities for case management services within the scope of licensure; develops, monitors, evaluates, and revises the treatment care plan to meet the member’s needs, with the goal of optimizing member health care across the care continuum
  • Monitors and assists with maintaining medication expiration logs and supplies of each clinic/house/school.
  • Assists with maintains medication supply rooms; stocking of med carts, first aid stations, and other clinical areas. Ensures all supplies are available and not expired. Ensures all AEDs are tested according to policy and ensure all epi pen stations are stocked.
  • Supports proper inventory control and assists with managing supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in onboarding and development of nursing staff.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts in-service programs designed for residents and staff to improve the quality of health care.
