Senior Associate, Private Investments

Job Description

Overview:

1932 Capital Management, Inc. is a single-family office (“FO”) that provides private wealth management and financial services to a family that runs one of the largest privately owned 3rd party logistics companies in North America. The FO’s services are bespoke and demand the highest levels of discretion and attention to detail.

 

The Family Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Associate, Private Investments to support the execution and management of the firm’s private investment strategies. These strategies include leveraged buyouts, co-investments, pre-IPO growth opportunities, secondaries, and other minority investments in private companies across a variety of industries. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role across all aspects of the investment process, including deal sourcing, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management.

 

The Senior Associate will report directly to the President of the FO and will be in frequent direct contact with the FO principals.  The FO is continually evolving, providing a great opportunity for someone that likes taking on new challenges, creating new processes and procedures, and prefers a dynamic work environment.

 

Responsibilities:
  • Opportunity Sourcing 

    • Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, brokers, sponsors, lenders, and other intermediaries

    • Support the firm’s origination efforts by identifying attractive subsectors, mapping market participants, and screening inbound deal flow

    • Participate in industry conferences and other networking events that match the FO’s investment thesis

  • Execution & Diligence

    • Conduct detailed financial modeling, valuation analyses (LBO models, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions analysis), and sensitivity scenarios

    • Lead due diligence work streams, including industry research, market sizing, competitive analysis, customer interviews, and coordination with third-party advisors

    • Prepare investment committee materials, internal memos, and presentation decks

    • Assist in negotiation of term sheets, transaction documents, and closing processes

  • Portfolio Management

    • Collaborate with portfolio company management teams on strategic initiatives, including organic growth plans, add-on acquisitions, and operational improvements

    • Monitor and report on portfolio company performance; track KPIs and assist in board-level reporting

    • Support exit planning and execution, including preparation of exit materials and engagement with bankers

  • Reporting & Investment Committee Support

    • Prepare materials for the regular Investment Committee meetings

    • Present performance updates, proposed strategies, and company performance

    • Maintain and update capitalization tables, investment return metrics, and valuations

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA or MSF) is a plus.
  • 4-6 years of experience in investment banking or private equity.

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, capital structures, and M&A processes

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to perform in-depth financial analysis, modeling, and due diligence.

  • Experience training and supervising analysts and staff, preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

 

Location & Flexibility:

  • The position will be located at the FO’s office in Camden, NJ.
  • The role will require 5 days on-site.
  • The role will require occasional travel.

We are excited to share that the base salary range for this position is $125,000.-$175,000.  This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.  NFI takes into consideration applicants' qualifications, experience, education, and geographic location when determining a starting rate of pay.
