Role Overview:
The Senior Engineer, Quality is a key driver of quality performance across Brother’s manufacturing, service, and distribution (3PL) operations. This role develops and maintains quality performance metrics, leads problem-solving initiatives, and drives corrective and preventive actions to improve process capability, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Working cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Service, Logistics, and Compliance, this position ensures consistent quality standards, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement across all supply chain functions. The Senior Engineer, Quality plays a pivotal role in turning quality data into actionable improvements that strengthen Brother’s overall Quality Management System (QMS).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Quality Performance Metrics & Analysis
- Develop and maintain key quality metrics and dashboards to monitor performance across manufacturing, service, and distribution (3PL) sites (e.g., non-conformance, first pass yield, defect trends, supplier recovery, inspection accuracy, customer complaints)
- Analyze performance data to identify patterns, emerging risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Present findings and recommendations to site and corporate leadership
- Collaborate across functions to ensure data integrity and alignment on improvement priorities
Continuous Improvement and Root Cause Leadership
- Lead or facilitate root cause analysis (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D) to resolve systemic issues and prevent recurrence
- Translate metric insights into targeted improvement projects with measurable impact
- Drive closure and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainability
- Champion a preventive quality mindset across manufacturing, service, and distribution teams
Nonconforming Material (NCM) and Incoming Inspection
- Oversee and support the NCM process, including investigation, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming materials, products, or components
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to contain, correct, and prevent recurrence of quality issues
- Support incoming inspection planning, sampling strategies, and data analysis to ensure consistency across all receiving and service operations
- Provide training and guidance to inspection and service teams as needed
QMS Support and Documentation
- Support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of Brother’s QMS in accordance with ISO 9001 and corporate standards
- Develop, update, and standardize quality procedures, inspection instructions, and work standards
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist in responding to findings
- Partner with the Compliance team on QMS alignment across manufacturing, service, and 3PL sites
Data Reporting and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Prepare and communicate monthly and quarterly quality performance summaries
- Support creation and maintenance of dashboards that visualize performance across sites
- Work with leadership to ensure metrics are driving meaningful improvement actions and resource allocation
Experience & Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field
Experience
Minimum 5 years
- Experience in quality engineering, process improvement, or supply chain quality managing or supporting NCM, CAPA, and inspection systems in manufacturing/service environments
Licenses and Certifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification
Software/Technical Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, Lean, Six Sigma, and FMEA methodologies
- SAP S/4HANA QM, Power BI, Tableau or similar analytics tools
Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Proven ability analyzing data, identifying trends, and driving measurable improvements
- Ability to translate quality data into actionable strategies and influence teams at all levels
- Skilled in root cause analysis, process validation, and control plan development
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Self-driven, collaborative, and capable of leading cross-functional improvement efforts
Additional Details for This Role:
This role will be an onsite role. You are expected to work from the stated job location 5 days a week. #LI-ONSITE
Base Salary
- The targeted base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $ 105,000 per year.
- Base salary is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the successful candidate, as well as factors such as internal equity, cost of labor in the hiring location, and alignment with market data.
Additional Compensation
- Not a Bonus Eligible Role: This role is not eligible to participate in Brother's bonus incentive plan. The base pay accounts for the entirety of the role's annual cash compensation.
