Job Overview:
SmartChoice is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and people-oriented Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team. In this role, the successful candidate will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resources/people operations department. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is looking to gain broad HR experience/exposure.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Director of People Operations in the execution of HR related functions throughout the organization.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answering frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performing periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately in the HRIS system.
- Assisting with the processing of weekly payroll, in alignment with best practices and relevant wage and hour laws.
- Facilitating benefits and 401k processes, including enrollment, benefits compliance, and open enrollment.
- Updating, implementing, and executing key HR touchpoints including, but not limited to: Performance Management, Open Enrollment, Onboarding/Offboarding, and Training and Development, Recruitment, Compliance, Employee Engagement and Retention and other Human Resources functions.
- Positively contributing to the overall company culture/employee experience through event planning, employee relations, and communication.
- Provide relevant data to support the management team in decision-making related to compensation, organizational development related matters, including organizational analysis, strategy, structure, and key processes to support organizational/business needs.
- Preparing internal employee communications regarding compensation, benefits, and company policy.
- Maintaining the highest level of confidentiality with regard to all employees, company, and client information.
- Performing other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Human Resources or Business Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years Human Resources experience, preferably in a broad-scope HR position
- Basic understanding of general human resources policies, procedures, knowledge of employment/labor laws.
- Telecommunications/IT/Tech experience is a plus.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a dedication to employee satisfaction.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, attention to detail, and strong follow-up.
- Ability to maintain open communication and escalate issues and concerns to direct supervisors and leadership immediately.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
