Position Purpose: Responsible for all general accounting, reimbursement, decision support, financial and operations reporting, operational and capital budgeting and internal control matters.

Essential Functions
  1. Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance and internal control measures to assure the safeguard of Saint Anthony Hospital’s assets. 10%

  1. Oversees and directs all general accounting, financial reporting (including Saint Anthony Hospital reporting requirements), reimbursement, decision support, accounts payable, payroll, budget, financial analysis and treasury management functions. 25%

  1. Oversees the third-party reimbursement estimation process to assure accurate net revenue estimates. 10%

  1. Serves as financial liaison between Finance and other departments. Assists department/directors in analyzing data and statistics in understanding their financial/operational relationships. Oversees training related to finance and decision support issues. 5%

  1. Oversees and directs financial and capital budgets per Saint Anthony Hospital requirements including the five-year integrated strategic financial plan. 15%

  1. Oversees and directs development and maintenance of the Eclipsys EMR/decision support system including the production of reports related to costs, profitability, productivity and product lines. 10%

  1. Plans and coordinates the external year-end audit by public accountants and internal audits prepared by CHAN. 10%

  1. Manages vendor credit relationships. 3%

  1. Manages resources to ensure data consistency between related information systems and assists Information Systems function as necessary. 5%

  1. Supports revenue cycle management by directing the provision of data and information to support revenue enhancing initiatives. 5%

  1. Other duties as assigned. 2%

Marginal Functions (list in order of importance)

  • Performs both essential and marginal job functions in a safe manner as identified by Saint Anthony Hospital and the respective department while adhering to the Hospital’s confidentiality norms and standards. Actively and consistently demonstrates the core values of Saint Anthony Hospital in all interactions with others.

  • Assumes responsibility for knowing and maintaining established hospital and departmental objectives, policies/procedures including general sanitation, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  • Participates in performance activities including problem identification, data collection, solution selection, implementation and evaluation. Also assists in the care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as appropriate.

  • Participates in staff meetings and other inservices, meetings or committees as required.

  • Acts as Administrator On-Call as assigned.

General Job Requirements (List any required knowledge, skills, experiences or training, including length of time necessary for proficiency, required to perform the job.)

  • Minimum education and experience – Bachelor degree in Accounting, 7 years of directly related experience in accounting, budget and financial analysis, supervisory experience.
  • Preferred education and experience – Master degree, CPA, 7 years of accounting, budgeting and financial analysis experience in healthcare environment.
  • Experience with SMS GL system, cost management system and related accounts payable and payroll systems.
  • Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software, Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
