Job Description
Overview:
A professional multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice including administrative andclinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.
Responsibilities:
Take patient's vital signs. Prepare patients for the provider'scare. Assist with patient examinations or treatments Correctly document all entries in the medical record, eitherelectronic or hard copy, to include signature, date and time Administer medication as directed by and under the directsupervision of licensed physician Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms. Collectroutine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.Administer basic first aid Participates in performance improvement projects.Participates as an active care team member in thecoordination of patient care Provides a standard of excellence as it relates to customerservice for patients, staff members, and other customers.
Qualifications:
Experience: 1-year - Medical assistant – preferred 2– 4 years clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a health care related industry -preferred 1-year experience with third party payors, and computer experience for imputing data andreviewing - preferred Certification/LicensureRequirements: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required - or within 6 monthsBasic Life Support (BLS) required - at time of hireMedical Terminology Certificate preferred - at time of hire ** Additional Details ** A requirement of having completed an MA program that is accredited by the NationalCommission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agencyapproved by the board.
