Overview: Responsible for performing technical and clerical duties within the inpatient pharmacy distribution system. The IV Pharmacy Technician is responsible for sterile compounding using the principles of aseptic technique. Compounded sterile preparations (CSPs) are prepared in compliance with USP 797 utilizing laminar airflow workbenches and/or biological safety cabinets. Tasks include medication and supply inventory management, medication preparation, medication distribution to patient care units and automated dispensing cabinets, regulatory compliance and other tasks necessary to support safe medication distribution. Maintains warehouse area and inventory: performs routine checks for outdated stock, restock, delivery of supplies, and documentation. Responsibilities: Responsible for the accurate picking, and delivery for all par locations. Coordinates with POU system specialist information regarding expired items, stock outs, and overstock. Performs required checks for expiring goods on a scheduled basis so that outdating stock is not distributed throughout the clinical areas. Identifies outdating stock in accordance with POU policies and procedures and reports same to Pyxis System Specialist or Supervisor.
