Overview: The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) is the main point of contact for an assigned group of cancer patients, their families, caregivers, and referring physicians. The ONN demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, allied health providers, and administrative support staff to identify and overcome barriers to care, ensure care is seamless, provide timely access to care, and provide education and support throughout the patient's cancer continuum. The ONN organizes and facilitates weekly multidisciplinary tumor conferences for the assigned disease site group(s) to ensure case materials such as radiology, pathology, and outside treatment notes are assembled before the conference.
