Overview: The Medical Laboratory Scientist Apprentice performs procedures relative to this technical skill level for use in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and works as part of a team with general supervision from technical or supervisory staff. Responsible for verification of proper patient/specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders, processes samples for testing, and loads samples onto instruments as appropriate according to procedures. Organizes laboratory workflow and appropriately prioritizes processing and distribution of specimens. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to perform assigned duties.
